Mists’ Paladin Talent Redeaux

The new MoP talent and spells are up.  Diving back into the Paladin choices you can see alot of improvement over all and ther is much to be excited about.  Here is the link to my previous break down for a comparison of old to new.

Level 15

Speed of Light – Increases your movement speed by 70% for 7 secs. This talent is probably the one Holy Paladins will pick without much thought.  Prot Paladins as well could choose this and not loose any situational effectiveness. A Ret Paladin would benefit least from this talent because the uptime is so much lower compared the other two. While the 1 minute cooldown is relatively low, a DPS class would want more bang for their Talent buck. If you want a burst of speed in PvP every minute now you can.

Long Arm of the Law – A successful Judgment increases your movement speed by 45% for 3 sec. Read the spell note again. There is no cooldown associated with the talent itself. The 45% speed uptime is only limited by the 8 sec cooldown of judgments. IMO this is best suited for a Ret Paladin who judges the most for damage purpose. A Prot paladin would find this useful as well. Being that much faster 40% of the time is never a bad thing! Holy Paladins would benefit the least from this talent because of the recent change to mana regen from Seal of Insight. PvPers can be 45% faster 40% of the time during engagements.

Pursuit of Justice – You Gain 10% movement speed at all times , plus a additional 10% for each charge of Holy Power. You gain a 100% uptime 10 % speed bonus, plus 30% for not spending Holy Power, with a maximum increase of 40%. Interesting… I’m not an Arena player, but if I was this could be a useful talent. All paladin specs benefit greatly by using their Holy Power charges. Holding on to them in a PvE environment would seem counterproductive. In a PvP environment this could be very useful. A Prot Paladin flag carrier with a 40% speed bonus could be an asset indeed.

Level 30

Fist of Justice – Stuns the target of 6 sec. This talent replaces our Hammer of Justice stun. Holy paladins are out of melee range most of the time, so they would benefit little taking this talent. Although with the recent changes to Seal of Insight being in melee range isn’t a bad idea. Prot Paladins will see this as their go to talent for level 30. Rebuke and Fist of Justice are almost mandatory tanking spells. Ret Paladins could find a lot of use from this spell and is attractive with a 30 sec cooldown. PvP Paladins are going to find the Level 30 talents very hard to choose from!

Repentance – Puts then enemy target in a state of meditation incapacitating them for up to 1 min. This version of Repentance has a 1.5 second cast. Making it a classic CC option for any spec. Holy Paladins will find most use from this talent. Finally being able to bring a CC to the 5 mans will be a big quality of life upgrade. Prot Paladins could find a lot of Pre-Pull use from this spell in the new 5 mans. Ret Paladins… oh what a choice you have to make. Take the spell you had exclusive to your spec, or pick something that you had taken away! PvP players will find some use for this, but not as much as the other options at level 30.

Burden of Guilt – Your judgment fill the target with doubt and remorse, reducing their  movement speed by 50% for 12 secs. Blizz is trying to give you choice, but this is a questionable PvE talent.  If it worked on Ragnaros style adds… There would be huge potential there!    All specs that PvP will find a lot of value in this choice, all PvE specs will find little.

Level 45

Selfless Healer – Your successful Judgments reduce the mana cost of your next Flash of Light by 50% and improve its effectiveness by 50% when used to heal others. Stacks up to 2 times. This talent opens up so many possibilities, as all the talents do at this level. Holy paladins could work into their rotations two judgments in a row. Testing will need to be done, but if the throughput is there this could be a viable addition to Holy Healing. Prot paladins would have to give up there shield for 1.5 seconds to make use of this talent, and they get no bonus for self-healing. Most likely Prot will make little to no use of this talent. Ret and PvP players could make use of this perk if it is already a part of their play style. If these players aren’t utility healing already, they will pass this up as well. If they make this talent and instant cast at 2 stacks, then it becomes a viable talent.

Eternal Flame –Consumes all Holy Power to place a protective Holy flame on a friendly target, which helas them for 2402 per charge of Holy Power ever 3 sec for 30 sec.  if you are comparing to my previous article you’ll notice that this is an entirely new talent!  This a 30 sec HoT.  Simple?  Yes.  Effective?  Yes.  Fun?  If they target is on fire, hell yes.  If not meh… it’s a HoT.

Sacred Shield – Protects the target with a shield of Holy Light for 30 sec, which increases the critical chance of your Word of Glory on the Target by 30%.  The shield also absorbs 5,353 damage when the target takes damage, but no more than once every 6 sec.  TANK HEALING FTW.  This is an awesome addition to your arsenal!  The 30% buff to crit for WoG that is almost a guaranteed crit, Boom!  This is a 3 Holy Power talent so needs to be worked into your rotation of tank healing, but still a potent tool in the Holy Arsenal.  Now…  Think of the Prot Paladins, Hell Yes!  Your WoG will almost always crit yourself, this a an awesome mitigation and self-healing Prot Tool!  Retadins and PvP specs this will most likely be the go to talent choice.

Hand of Purity – Places a Hand on the friendly target, reducing the damage of harmful periodic effects by 70% for 6 sec.  This talent is for the professional Retribution Paladin, alts need not apply.  Knowing when to drop a Hand of Purity on a player will only be useful to Paladins actually using their ‘Hand of’ spells all the time.  If you are a Holy paladin and don’t need the extra throughput of other talents, this might be for you.  Prot will make use of this only if they are concerned with self-mitigation, but if you are a true paladin your looking out for the entire raid so this might be a appealing.

Unbreakable Spirit – When your Divine Shield, Divine Protection or Lay on Hands are on cooldown, spending Holy Power will reduce the remaining cooldown by 1% per Holy Power spent, up to a maximum of 50% reduction.  If you are a WoG whore then this is for you.  This effectively turns my 7 min LoH cooldown to about 4 mins.  Enough said about this talent…

Clemency – When activated, immediately finishes the cooldown on your Hand of Freedom, Hand of Protection and Hand of Sacrifice. When you absolutely, positively must have 24 seconds worth of Hand of Sacrifice Tank Healing Awesomeness take Clemency. There are too many situations where you could double up the HoS spell to list!

Level 75

This is where the real choice is for Paladins start. How would you like to flaunt your Awesome? Read on!

Holy Avenger – Summoning your Guardian of Ancient Kings also imbues you with the power of a Holy Avenger. Holy Avenger – your next 5 abilities that consume Holy Power and cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed. Lasts for the duration of GoAK. Note: Guardian has a 5 minute Cooldown.

Holy Avenger for Holy Paladins = 5 FREE 3 POINT WORD OF GLORY SPELL CASTS… augmented by your Guardian of Ancient Kings! OMG.

Holy Avenger for Prot Paladins = Crushing your opponent with Shield of Righteous Crits!

Holy Avenger for Ret Paladins = Extending your Cooldowns for longer DPS boosts. Instead of overlapping your Zealotry with Guardian you’ll want to use them separately.

Sanctified Wrath – You gain more frequent access to one of your abilities during Avenging Wrath. Note: Avenging Wrath lasts 20 Seconds and has a 3 minute cooldown.

Sanctified Wrath for Holy Paladins – Holy Shock has no cool down… for 20 seconds… WTF? Say hello to my little friend! SHOCK, SHOCK, SHOCK, WoG, SHOCK, SHOCK SHOCK, WoG…etc, etc, etc, FOR 20 SECONDS! Every 3 minutes! BOOM!

Sanctified Wrath for Prot Paladins – Judgment has no Cooldown…. /shrug … Combined with Seal of Insight this could be a mitigation cooldown.

Sanctified Wrath for Ret Paladins – You can use Hammer of Wrath. Same spell you know and love already.

Divine Purpose – Abilities that cost Holy Power have 15% to cause the Divine Purpose effect. Your Next Holy Power ability will consume no Holy Power and to cast as if 3 Holy Power were consumed. This is your everyday level 75 Talent. Ret Paladins can tell you now that this is a core part of their current rotation and will be hard to let go over other choices at this level. You will see constant return for this talent, and it’s automatic.

Level 90

Holy Prism – (20 sec cooldown) Sends a beam of light toward a target, turning them into a prism of Holy Energy.  If an enemy is the prism, they take 1,581 Holy Damage and radiate 1,170 healing to 5 nerby allies withing 10 yeards.  If the ally is the prism, they are healed for 3,509 and radiate 527 Holy Damage to 5 nearby enemies within 10 yards.   For Holy paladins this is another spell in the toolkit.  If you are overwhelmed with spells you might not want to add something to use.  For Prot and Ret Paladins it could be a nice addition to overall healing when added to their damage rotations.  PvP minded specs might not use this much at all.  I’ll reserve final judgment when I see it in action.

Light’s Hammer – (1 min cooldown) Hurl a Light-infused hammer into the ground, where it will blast a 10 yard area with Holy magic of 15 sec.  Allies within the area are healed for 6 every 2 sec while enemies take 6 Holy damage every 2 sec.  Note:  Numbers seem off, but you get the idea.  For Holy and Prot minded specs this could be an easy grab.  AoE damage or Heals cannot be a bad thing!  PvP, eh… you guys don’t stay still too much so I find little use for this one in that arena.

Execution Sentence of Stay of Execution – (1 min cooldown) A hammer slowly falls from the sky, causing increasing Holy damage to the designated target for he next 10 secs and culminating in a final burst of damage.  If used on a friendly target, the falling hammer heals the target for the next 10 secs culminating in a final burst of healing.  Imagine a Zergadins raid when we pull a boss.  The Hammers falling from the sky would be insane!  I for one approve of this talent just for that reason alone.  If the hammer moves with the target you are good to go for PvP!
