DC Universe goes F2P!

Sony announced that MMO DC Online Universe will become free-to-play in October on PlayStation 3 and PC.

The decision to release the game free to the public was not due to a decline in subscribers, but rather the game cost more to develop than anticipated.
“In terms of ‘Is it a result in a drop in subs’ – absolutely not,” SOE’s Lorin Jameson told IGN.

“This is the right business model. If I can be honest, the game ended up costing a lot more than we thought it would, and this was our preferred business model from day one.”

Those who will play free will have access to DC Online Universe, content packs, updates, and additional character slots and powers.
The premium players, which you can become if you spend over $5 will in addition have extra character slots, more inventory slots and increased cash limits.

Those who are Legendary players, which will cost $14.99 per month, will include everything listed above, in addition to all DLC for no extra cost, over 15 character slots, 80 inventory slots and the ability to generate leagues with no size restrictions.
