P’anzer – You just hit level 40 Zyley?
Zyley – *Shoots Kolto at P’anzer’s Face*
P’anzer – That doesn’t hurt, it feels good.
Zyley – Exactly…
Gather up Grunts, it’s time I smacked you into reality. This game is new. Brand spanking new. That means medics get the leveling shaft. Here’s the breakdown.
Levels 1 – 20 go pretty quickly for any BH Merc, but after level 20 the talents start kicking in and you begin to see a difference in play style. As a Medic you are in high demand for flash points, but your single player experience starts to slow down because of Damage output. While other specs get new weapons, Medics get new heals. These tools do little to make the enemies die quicker.
As a medic you get Kolto Shell at level 35. A full 15 levels after you get Kolto Missile. The 15 talents in-between make your healing scans more powerful and not much else. Slide over in the talent tree to augment your Healing Scan with an HoT and Armor buff (Levels 36, 37, & 38). Finally at level 40 you gain your Instant Emergency Scan which will be utilized more often then you think.
Now back to how to handle the packs of enemies between you and glory. The answer is simple, yet missed by many. Power Shot. Mixed with a healthy dose of Supercharged Gas. If the group gets dicey mix in your talented Power Shield for mitigated push-back.
If you try and get fancy with Missiles, Unload, and Pyrotechnics you’ll just be pissing into the wind. Medics get a 10% damage boost when supercharging there Combat Support Cylinders with a reduced heat cost. the 1.5 sec Aim time of Power shot is well spent when delivering the damage. Other specs gain modifications to the Merc attacks, Medics don’t. Keep it simple and burn them down with Power Shot.
Mix in a few other attacks for fun and Crowd Control, which you will need, and enjoy the Ride. If you feel completely comfortable with the healing game using a BH Merc Medic it is wholly viable to spec out of healing till end game.
If you don’t have the basics down, here is your BH Merc Medic Priority List at Level 40:
Kolto Shell and Healing Scan on the Tank Pre-Pull. This sets up an Armor buff and 9 sec HoT to start the pull with. The shell gives them a delayed HoT based on Damage taken for the next 30 secs while taking damage.
Rapid scan and Rapid Shot the other two Party Members to keep them up. Fire a Kolto Missile if taking heavy Damage to apply the Healing Received Buff.
When damage ramps up ignite your Supercharged Gas and burn Healing Scan for the next 10 seconds bringing the members back to full health. You then start your Priority system over again with a reapplication of Kolto Shell on the tank.
