A thank you, to our GM:
(Grokk) Much of what is to be said of Panzer can be and has been said of myself as well. It is in this way that I think I get along with him so well. Eccentric, obsessive compulsive, quirky, odd, and sometimes downright bizarre. BUT! Loyal, kind, strong-willed, funny, quick-witted, just, hard-working, and epic. These are all words I would use to describe Panzer. When I joined the guild it took me a full 3 days to figure out who the guild leader was….I actually thought it was Blarghe! I was quickly re-educated, and learned who held the true power. I was promptly brought in on raids and instances, mingled with my new guildies and had my masculinity questioned, and I can’t seem to remember why. However, to thank Panzer, I would also have to thank the entire guild who welcomed me at the time. I’ve been playing WoW for 6 years now, I’ve been in precisely 6 guilds since I started and, out of every guild, this has been the most welcoming, the most active and the most well run of any guild I’ve ever seen or been in, which is a credit to the entire guild, but as I have watched in these last 2 years, I have seen Panzer go above and beyond what I would normally expect from a guild leader. But that’s because is more than just my guild leader: he’s my friend. So thank you Panzer, as much as we all hate to inflate your ego I must say it. Thank you for bringing us all together, and keeping us together. Without you …
(Zyley) … I wouldn’t be the egotistical Paladin I am today. You have taught me many things over the last two years. I’ve forgotten most of them, but the one thing that does stick with me is that Paladins are gods and we can do anything. We also have awesome hair. Did I mention our God –like status? I mean, come on people! Each spec can bring you from 1% to 100% instantly. Wait… this is a thank you paragraph? Who the hell came up with this idea anyway? Ok… Dave, thank you. Thanks for doing what you love to do. I don’t think that most players realize the time it takes managing a group of people into a cohesive unit. What most members may take for granted, I appreciate more than written words can express. I might as well say it… I love you man (no Homo). It’s rare that people can connect like we all do. The connection is even more impressive when you realize most of us have never given each other a solid Bro hug (no Homo). We can all make this connection because of the environment you foster and care for. I’d now like to remind everyone that…
(Harey) … no one in their right mind would want to play a paladin. Everything a paladin can do a druid can do better. It’s a fact. Plus, how can you beat tanking as a bear? They’re scary.
Paladins are like rogues in plate carrying a mace. If they’re not stunning you, they’re bubbling and running away from a fight to lay on hands just to start all over again!! And a paladin’s ability to hold agro is atrocious!!! I mean, when we were running ICC, Arthur must have been dead if he didn’t have agro on the skull because the main tank sure didn’t!!! Hunters are the class that the hardcore players roll. On a serious note though, Dave you do a hell of a job running this guild, I haven’t been in many guilds, but this one is far and away the best one I’ve been a part of. You’ll never find a greater group of people and a lot of that has to do with the leadership. I don’t know how you put up with some of the B.S. that can go on in the politics of running a guild, but I raise my glass to you. You’re one of a kind and I look forward to lying dead on the ground with you many more times because ….
(Blarghe)… Panzer sucks. We’ve all heard that quite a bit. I almost got used to it, but I think I still hear “Panzer, did you forget righteous fury again?” more. The poor guy must be trying to compensate for something, with all the hair products, and the jumping flips – maybe it’s the old wreck of a healing career he’s trying to hide, or when he blew up that airship and almost killed that pally buddy of his…
Speaking of dpsing, wouldn’t it be awesome if you could dress up as a comic book hero and pretend to kick ass? Do you think Batman getting his wings spellstolen would be as bad as when it happens to Panzer? Seriously though – I love Panzer Points and Gold stars, really. What better way to convince folks to zerg everything? It’s brilliant! Gotta be wary of those pesky offtanks, with their effort and responsibilities, they might just actually show how little you’re doing. More Panzer Points! Here boy, goooood boy, get your points! I suppose the job isn’t all motorcycles and lipstick, since Panzer has actually dealt with one or two gripes from his grunts. I’m not surprised he snapped so easy, though. Who wouldn’t buckle under the pressure of getting yet another set of tier shoulders. Oy, the work is just never done! If only he had some kind of assistants to help with things…
(Azhriaz)… He would have the time to devote to important things like learning to spell, speak in full complete sentences (not just grunts) and even learn how to play a class other than Paladin. I mean, how sick and twisted does someone have to be to have, what is Dave up to – four paladins? Five?? I have heard of the saying “stick to what you know” but this is taking it a little bit to the extreme! What’s so sad is that he still doesn’t even know how to play a Paladin. Sigh. But for all that, Dave does know how to do some things correctly… like keep a guild alive and kicking, run raids, flirt with the ladies in the guild (yeah, I’ll call you on that!) and ignore everything that doesn’t revolve around him. Ahh..in truth, the best part of having Dave as a GM is that he takes the abuse we continually heap on him, and only curls up in a whimpering little ball of goo about once a month, which is pretty good when you think about it. I am loathe to admit it, but Dave is one of the best WoW players I’ve been lucky enough to play with, and the best GM. What makes him such a good GM is…
(Sarya) … that he has us! I mean, just look at us! What fine, team of enviable and well skilled guildies he has to work with! We ARE the shining stars that GM’s around the world are so hard pressed to find, and here, Panzy has us ALL. Just think of all the wall beaten, bloody foreheaded GMs out there, and yet, Dave always looks so put together and, well, bloodless. We’re the perfect KO combo of continuity and balance. It’s all so Zen. You’re welcome, Dave! ;D Other things that make him stand out from the rest are his tireless efforts, the guild web sites he creates, the amazing yearbooks, the anniversary runs and other team events, the fact that he leaves no one who wants to progress behind, his endurance, thoughtfulness, realistic outlook and just basically, as Lora stated, his OCD … the later being his best asset. We REALLY appreciate his OCD. A LOT.
All kidding aside, Dave, the participants in this Rolling Roast are just a few representing the whole. Now that the Server jump has been successfully accomplished, the 2nd annual Yearbook is out, the new web site is up and running and the dust is finally settling, we wanted to take just a moment to say thank you for all YOU do that’s so consistently above and beyond the norm and often with great effort. You really are the best of the best and we appreciate you. Thank you for your friendship, time, for all of the great memories, for the fun we’ve had and for all that’s yet to come, and for all you do to make our community, the Zergadins,” a little better every day!” Hats off to you, Dave! Cheers!
