SWTOR – Patch 1.4 – So… what’s in it for me?

Here’s the link to the updating Test Server Notes for SWTOR Patch 1.4

“Wow Zyley, that’s alot of info.  What does all that boil down to?”

Well Comrade, I’ll tell you.

First of all we’ve got some signifigant class changes, many of which are dealing with PvP stuns or crowd control abilities.  If you are big into the SWTOR PvP, it’ll be of interest to drill down into the notes and get a firm grip on what’s changing.

If you’re of the more PvE flavor, these above changes affect how you’ll play ipso facto.  The biggest example of which is the Sage/Sorc AoE knock back.  It’s now a frontal cone effect, but targets deeper into your play field.  Another notable CC addition is that Mercs/Commandos are getting a long distance interrupt.

As I said, there are many more changes.  The rest though, aren’t going to change how you play your class except for the Hardcore Min/Max Player.  If you are one of those player, thanks for stopping by, but “these aren’t the droids(blog) your looking for.

There have been some significant changes to Story Mode difficulties across all Operations, especially Explosive Conflict.  That means it’ll be even more accessible to un-guilded players to Run.  If you are un-guilded, and you like what you see, fill out an app!  (We play on the Bastion Server btw, Zergadins for the Empire – sindagreZ for the Alliance.)

A nice change for Flash Points and Operations Loot is a 2 hour timer for trading.  You will be able to hand over gear to a party member for two hours if a mistake was made.  This will make a lot of unhappy moments no big deal at all.

They have changed off hands of high quality to become fully customizable.

There is a new operation, and new loot on the Hard Mode version of it.  As of now it’s just a color swap to the Black Hole Gear.  They’ve also added new purchases for 350 Black Hole Coms and 400 Daily Coms.  Yeeesh.  That’s a lot of Coms.  I have a feeling this will get changed before launch.  That’s just a huge grind for an incoming player.

Bioware has given the players asked for companion settings this go-round.  You can color match their gear, just like yours now.  As well you can turn off the Helmet.

There has also been a significant polishing of quests, UI, and game-play bugs.

This is looking to be a fun and sizable patch.  If I can just say for one moment to the interweb masses.  Bioware, please let your players actually test their game.  Add in copy or premade functions for us.  Please also give back the rewards for testing it as well.  I for one would like to continue working on my Cutting Edge title next time the Test Server fires up.

See you on the Station
