So I logged in to my little warrior alt (IRONDEATH!) last night to find a surprise in my mailbox. Brokenaces took the time out to craft me a new mount that I absolutely love – a Sky Golem!
This mount has a mind of it’s own and kinda fly where ever it wants. Of course I needed to just enjoy flying around do Barrel rolls and taking in the very unique flying scheme that it was designed with. After cruising around Orgrimaar for a good 20 minutes I started thinking… What other cool mounts have I gathered over the last 10 years? I gathered most the mounts to see the little flash of an achievement during my Hareynas challenge back in WotLK. As a result I didn’t really have any kind of real attachment to many of them. Hell, I didn’t even know I had some of them! But as I dug through the list of different creatures I had kidnapped to force in to slaver, I did come across a few that did have some special meaning for me. That had strange history….
Reins of the Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher
Months upon months we slaved at this achievement for this mount. We worked at it while it was still considered current content and barely managed to get our hands on it before Cataclysm was released. The strat we instigated to get the last achievement we needed “all you can eat” was the core reason our guild was renamed from Deaths Desires to the Zergadins! To this day, this mount is my mount of choice for Panzers ride as this was the first time the guild ever felt like it was competitive with the other progression guilds on the server!
Reins of the Black War Bear
Most of you realize I’m not very hardcore into PvP. But when you are running a guild with approx. 100 members – there is bound to be some that really get off on it. We had recently recruited Hellwolf, our guilds pvp Mascot, and I really felt that we needed to do something to bring him into the fold, so I organized an achievement run “For the Horde”. Basically you needed to take a small raid into each of the Alliance cities and kill off their leader. My nerves were completely shot while we did this but we managed to one-shot each leader. As a funny side note we had 24 people with us, one of them had an alliance toon we used to spy on their chat; apparently we were so effective that the alliance thought we were two 40 man raids!
Reins of the Twilight Harbinger
I took one of a break from wow near the end of Cataclysm and left the guild to former guildmate Gnomeganker. I went to help build our Swtor chapter with Zyley and we had a lot of fun with it. After several months I returned to check on things and unfortunately the raid scene in our guild had pretty much lost all of it’s steam. Several guild mates wanted to get back into Dragonsoul and push the achievements and eventually heroic Deathwing! True to form we jumped back in and really gave it everything we had to clear it.
Mechano-Hog
Anyone that knows me knows my obsession with motorcycles in game. I used trained strictly engineering so I could build myself one, I used them for guild anniversary give aways, and I laundered guild funds (allegedly) to buy one for all of my alts. The Mechano-Hog basically sumed up my WotLK experience. Blarghe will always remember my ridiculous bank demands for money gold to pay for them!
Do you have any stories associated with mounts that you have? Anything memorable?
