How do you feel about patch 4.3?

So does anyone really realize how epic the final boss of Dragon soul actually is? Regardless if you are doing it in the LFR or one of our 10 man weekly runs, odds are you have had the privilege of attempting Deathwing. We literally pried the Scales off of the back of a dragon so big we could fit 25 people him and then proceeded to beat down the lice on his back until he ultimately came crashing down to the center of an amazing spectacle that is the center of the cataclysm. After that, we killed the mutated version of him, who was so big his head alone was bigger than us and four other giant dragons. All of this was seen and cleared within … 2 days of the new patch?

November 28th/2011 marked the patch day for what blizzard dubbed “the hour of twilight”. When I first jumped into this patch I was thoroughly excited about the idea of a way for the guild to run as a 25 man group with very little emphasize on gear, dps, and commitment. The LFR is a fantastic tool that can be used to keep people playing together and having fun, but has it actually caused more damage then good? Has blizzard removed what was special about downing end game content bosses by making it so easy? Don’t get me wrong I’m not questioning the usefulness to many players of having a tool that the can go raid-on-demand. I think it’s a fantastic idea, but perhaps giving the milk away for free means that you don’t have to buy the cow. Although, I do find myself asking what blizzard could have done to make this patch stretch properly over the next year before our world gets invaded by pandas.

I don’t think we could have asked for anything more from patch 4.3, they gave us an 8 man raid instance, 3 separate 5 man heroics and Zyleys favorite bit; the transmogs. Or could Blizzard have? In terms of pure aesthetics, Dragon Soul is a very satisfying raid in terms of pure scope and sweep. The instances are very quick to run and don’t really present much of a serious challenge. What is missing? Are you prepared to continue to raid the current content for the next 10 months? Does anyone find it odd that they started promoting the idea of an annual subscription commitment roughly one week before 4.3 was released? Could that be a coincidence? Food for thought.
