If it’s red it’s dead, or is it?

“If it’s red, it’s dead…” a standard rule of PvP game play. When transferring to Dragonmaw, a PvP server, this rule kept echoing through my head. It also reminded me of my first MMO experience, Ultima Online.

Ultima Online, I look back on you with rose colored glasses. The only thing I don’t look back on with fond memories are the red tinted sprites running toward me wanting to take all my hard farmed gold and materials. When they changed zones to include PvE only, my blood pressure dropped considerably.

When committing myself to World of Warcraft I made sure my server said PvE. I never wanted the hassle of some punk messing my gameplay experience up. I now find myself in a new PvP home. I also had a new reason to hate Panzer, or so I thought.

Keeping my reservations about moving to a PvP server quiet, I moved. Upon logging in the first thing I asked in GChat was, “Is there new crafted PvP gear and where do I get some?” I was not going to go out and do dailies and grind guild rep essentially naked with no resilience gear. Strapped up with pvp gear I rolled some random BG’s to warm my ‘Killer Instincts” up. I’d run in BG’s before so I wasn’t a complete newb, even though I still don’t know what half of the objectives are in some zones. I then ventured out to Hyjal and started my dailies.

I learned that the common daily bosses are where you will meet the Alliance face-to-face very quickly. A Worgen warrior and I attack a daily boss simultaneously. Being well aware that he is there because my nameplates are up, I kept my AoE attacks in check. The mob goes down… and we both stand there. We both start backing away… We both pause…

and …We both fly away..

It was an unexpected outcome. This same scenario has happened multiple times on the Molten front, and I’ve yet to have a negative world PvP experience. Everyone seems to have a “don’t mess with me, and I won’t mess with you” outlook when doing dailies.

I curious about the leveling PvP experience, will I encounter the same thing? I think not, but only time will tell.

So I’ve curbed my hate for Panzer momentarily, but for how long? Only time, and the Alliance, can tell.
