Community : Zergadins Year End Review and Forecast 2012

I’m two months behind on my “State of the Guild” year end recap. You can find my last one here, to realize how far we have come as a community.

In June 2012 we were at a cross roads of our community. Since then we have been reworked and rebuilt ourselves into true Zergadins. We remade ourselves into Zergadins while playing WoW. We were born Zergadins in SWTOR. I invite the entire community to look back with me on the last 7 months of Zerging.

We have finished our current Novel of Zerging in World of Warcraft. After a tremendous push by the WoW crew in the second half of 2012, we came together and finished up Heroic Madness of Deathwing on September 16, 2012. It was a storybook finish to an epic story of a plucky band of adventurers banding together to take down impossible odds.

We lost some good friends along the way, and made some new ones, but we emerged from the trials a stronger team for it. Our raiding team from WoW has disbanded for now, yet in my mind’s eye I can still see a Paladin with a fist full of Hate ready to ride into the fray with his fellow Zergadins.

Since SWTOR became a truly playable MMO at the end of June 2012, we have flourished in our efforts to stake our claim in a Galaxy Far, Far Away… You can read every episode of The Zergadin Datacron Chronicles starting with A New Hope.

Since the dark days pre-patch 1.3 The SWTOR Zergadins have “Downed the Hardest Content in the Game.” We always “Get Paid by the Hour,” and even though sometimes our “Shield is Broken, the Sword is still Strong.”

Dave (Panzer) and I have our side conversations about the state of Zerg affairs regularly. I commented to him last night “Don’t ask me how we got this group together,” referencing the cohesion of our SWTOR community. He responded about my commitment to making it work. I agree with him, a true community was my goal. I thought about how we came together and realized something else. All I did was set the players on the board. The members did the rest.

We have three scheduled Operations nights a week in SWTOR. That’s a healthy and respectable outing for any group of adventurers. Once a week we sponsor a 16 man operations run. It’s great time for the community to get together and Zerg. We are entering our 2nd full year of Zerging on Vaiken Space Dock, I invite all past, present, and future Zergadins to join in the Party.

While we still have some Diablo 3 sessions, we have solidified our Team Fortress 2 Frag Nights as a community Staple. On Mondays we log into the Zergadin TF2 Server and get to killin! You can check out our weekly ‘winners’ by checking out the all new TF2 section on the Zerg site (Look Up). I still get picked on for using an XBox controller to play, but I just say “LITTLE CART WON’T PUSH ITSELF!” This type of community event is what Zerging is all about. There is no weekly grind commitment to participate, only a free download on Steam to join in on the fun.

Grokk’s Pic of the Day is sitting at 1536 posts as of today. A handful of words cannot describe the images you will find after clicking on Dr. Grokk’s epic post. Rest assured it will take you places you might never return from. MORE DOTS MORE DOTS MORE DOTS!

Looking forward the Hyperspace Lanes hold promise for our SWTOR Zergs. Patch 1.7 and 1.8 are poised to drop before the XPac in the Spring bringing 5 more levels of deciding “Which one is the Little One?” Our Operations focus in set firmly on finishing up Terror From Beyond Hard Mode and gathering up some new trophy mounts for the crew. I’ve even heard rumors of a new Operations on the Horizon…

This team, community, and family is going to be around for a long time. It’s why I can proudly say to anyone “I’m a Zergadin.”

Here’s to Family
