Minecraft – It returns from the brink of doom!

I did some review on our Zergadins budget. Yes, you heard right… I keep a small set accounting books for all this! After looking over everything; it seems that we are overfunding our Ventrilo server.

“How did this happen, Panzer?! Aren’t you supposed to be some big shot account/manager?!”

Well… Back in the later Days of Wrath of the lichking in Warcraft; we often needed our Ventrilo server to be able to support 40+ players at the same time. Often times we’d be running a 25 man raid alongside of a 10 man raid with a few extra players we couldn’t fit in. I looked at some of our pricing options and down scaling our Ventrilo requirements would save us 50% of our costs.

“Panzer, 50%?! There’s NO WAY we’ve lost that many people over the past couple years!”

While we haven’t reduced our size by THAT much… with the sizes of the raid averaging 8 men it’s apparent that, even players listening in, we simply don’t need that size anymore.

“That makes A LOT of sense, Panzer… But what does that have to do with Minecraft?”

I’m glad you asked! Having said all that, I brought the Ventrilo server down to a 25 man (I think we’ll be okay at that size) and have asked our Ventrilo host to give us a minecraft server with our savings!

“OMG Panzer, you’re the best!”

Yes, Yes I know.  If you would like the server information, I don’t want to make this public because we did have to pick a cheaper one that is running 768mbs of ram, just contact me at Panzer@zergadins.com and I will hook you up!
